Special Projects

RAIR has extended its reach far beyond its resident artists, engaging local communities through recycling facility tours, presentations, and educational workshops that illuminate the connections between art, industry and sustainability. RAIR's Special Projects Program serves an ever-widening range of student, emerging, and professional artists by fostering cross-disciplinary partnerships with dozens of community groups, regional institutions and industry partners who wish to incorporate sustainability into their art making practices. RAIR staff has also provided assistance with project planning, design, and fabrication to maximize the creative potential of waste materials, stimulating sustainable material sourcing practices both within and beyond Philadelphia’s art community.
