Bucky Miller used his time at RAIR to produce a curious series of photographs branching off his most recent body of work. He described his work at RAIR as “a melancholy yet aspirational speculative fiction photo essay that takes place at an anonymous superfund site on the eastern seaboard”. With the intention of capturing photos of the raccoon nightlife at RAIR, Miller staged after hour photoshoots using cat food as bait. He was only able to spot a few raccoons, but caught glimpses of lots of cats and a skunk. In addition to the nighttime escapades, Miller was building assemblage sculptures, hanging chairs out of windows and tossing exercise machines in the air. Miller exhibited the work he made at RAIR at a new gallery, House of, in Richmond, VA and also self published a book of this work called “long-term monitoring plan.”
