RAIR FLEA MARKET!
The flea market will be held on the recycling center’s tipping floor (weather permitting). What is the tipping floor, you might ask? It is the area in a waste facility where trucks unload their contents, or “tip” their dumpsters. This part of the recycling facility serves as the primary access point for all programs and projects at RAIR. 100% of the items sourced for the RAIR Flea Market come directly from a variety of construction and demolition, manufacturing, and home clean-out materials that pass across the tipping floor.
We are excited to announce the first ever RAIR Flea Market! All items available for purchase were directly pulled from the waste stream at our host recycling facility, Revolution Recovery.
*All money raised directly supports RAIR 2026-2027 programming.

More about RAIR
RAIR's mission is to challenge the perception of waste culture by providing a unique platform at the intersection of art, industry, and community. Situated inside a construction and demolition waste recycling company in Northeast Philadelphia, RAIR creates and provides artist residencies, fellowships, new project commissions, interdisciplinary partnerships, and public programs.
Since its inception in 2010, RAIR’s flagship Residency Program has established itself as a unique opportunity for emerging, mid-career, and established artists. By facilitating artists’ direct engagement with the waste stream, RAIR encourages residents to consider their studio practice through the lens of sustainability and to thoughtfully reassess their processes of material sourcing and waste disposal.
As an extension to our residency program, RAIR launched the Circular Program in 2023. The Circular Program works to redistribute dimensional lumber from the waste stream to urban farms and gardens throughout the city. Since the program’s launch, RAIR has redistributed over $15,000 worth of material at no cost to its partners. RAIR Flea Market further pushes efforts to divert materials from the waste stream while also serving as a generative way to raise money for the organization and its programs.
