What is different about Trash Bash 2020?
The Trash Bash is RAIR’s annual fundraiser, which supports our amazing programming for the following year.
This year, Trash Bash will be held online this year in two parts:
Virtual party on Weds 11/18/20 at 7pm EST. We’ll celebrate together on Zoom
Silent Auction opens on Tues 11/17/20 at 7pm EST through Sun 11/22/20 at 11:59pm EST.
What does an Access Pass get me?
Much like a ticket to an in-person Trash Bash, to join our virtual party and get exclusive early access to our silent auction fundraiser, you must have an access pass.
There are two levels of access passes - VIP and the General Admission Everyone with an access pass will be emailed a Zoom link to join the virtual party.
If you have an access pass, you will be emailed a link and a secret password that will get you into the online silent auction a full 48 hours (for VIP passes) or 24 hours (for General Admission passes) before it opens to the public.
This special early bird access to our silent auction allows you to bid on items or choose to buy them on the spot before we open the auction to a much wider audience. When the auction goes public, items will be available for bidding only and there will no longer be a ‘buy it now’ option.
How do I get an Access Pass?

What is the Virtual Trash Bash Party?
The Virtual Trash Bash Party will be held on Zoom on November 18th 7pm EST- During this magical get together, hosted by RAIR, we’ll toast (goodbye?) to 2020 and celebrate the coming year. Those of you who have purchased our pre-party boxes, will have all the necessary supplies to bring the Trash Bash mood into your home.
What’s in the Silent Auction?
The Silent Auction/ Secret Sale has two general categories:
Artwork - donated from amazing artists. Preview here.
Trash Boutique - made by RAIR from materials from the waste stream. Preview here.
All money raised will support RAIR’s programming in 2021.
How do I bid on an item in the Auction?
We are using the GiveSmart platform for the auction. Follow the link to ‘bid or buy’ from our website to place your bid.
For each item, you’ll see the fair market value and the starting bid. If you have an access pass, you will also see an option to ‘buy now’ with the listed price.
You can browse the items on GiveSmart without registering, but if you’d like to bid on or buy an item, you will be asked to register. By registering (name, email, phone number are required), this will ensure you will be notified if you win an item and will allow you to pay for an item on the site.
You can bid via the website or via text message from your phone. If you enter your phone number at registration, you will receive a text message whenever you have been outbid on an item.
I won something in the auction, how do I pay?
If you have and access pass and have chosen to ‘buy it now’ you can access your cart by selecting the ‘Pay’ option when on the ‘All items’ Givesmart page. You can email us at info@rairphilly.org with any questions about how to do this.
When you placed your winning bid, you should have received an email with an option to pay online. If you would rather pay by check, that’s fine too! Checks can be made payable to RAIR. Email us with any questions.
I won! How do I get my auction item?
Congrats on your winning and thanks for supporting us! Once you win, we’ll send you an email to coordinate pick-up or mailing of your item.
If you are local, you may pick up your item on the Sun or Mon after we’ve received your payment. We’ll have it packaged and ready to go for you.
If you are not local, we can package your item for shipment. Shipping costs will be charged separately.
