It reminded me of a biological ecosystem that depends on detritivores to break down dead organisms, thereby allowing new life to reuse old nutrients.

Jake Beckman mined Revolution Recovery’s waste piles for discarded electronic parts and gadgets whose utility had been exhausted. Jake dissected these once-useful objects and extracted their functional components, using RAIR’s studio as a laboratory for experimentation. In attempt to squeeze out a few last drops of utility from the objects he collected, Jake combined parts to produce a series of assembled motorized sculptures resembling machine prototypes.
