Lewis Colburn’s project, Disposable Monuments, evolved in response to the national dialogue around the removal of Confederate monuments from public places, and became a series of monument-forms created from materials reclaimed from the waste stream. The smaller pallet of obelisks (made from discarded real estate signs) exists as a permanent sculpture, while the large obelisk, and the process of tipping it, is recorded only as a series of photographs.
