“Designed to cultivate the black radical imagination and what I call the “art of survival”, Illadelph centers love, hope, light, and liberation as a matter of life and death, evolution or extinction.”
— Li Sumpter

During Li Sumpters residency she sorted through the waste on the yard to collect and create props and scenic structures for her short film Illadelph Dreams. For her film, Li used the background of the yard to depict an apocalyptic wasteland filled with artifacts that hold memory and stories of their own. Li also invited fellow artists, collaborators, and friends to test-shoot scene "sketches" and choreography that are shaping the style, aesthetic, and energetic tones of the Illadelph Dreams story.
